Robert Charles Bahl III, 38, of Elliottsburg entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 17, 2008, at the Hershey Medical Center surrounded by loved ones. He was born on October 2, 1969, in Graham, Texas, and was the son of Robert C. Bahl II and Carolyn Bahl. Robert was a member of the 193rd Special Operations Wing in Middletown, Pa. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in Operation Desert Shield/Storm and Enduring Freedom. His military decorations include the AF Commendation Medal, AF Achievement Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, AF Training Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal with Device, AF Longevity Service Award, AF Reserve Medal, Global War on Terror Medal, PA Governors Unit Citation, PA Major General Thomas R. White Jr. Medal, PA General Thomas J. Stewart Medal, PA Commendation Medal and the Louisiana Emergency Service Medal. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 109, Mechanicsburg. Robert had an enthusiastic zeal for life and touched everyone he met. He was an avid sportsman, enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends. He also enjoyed bowling at ABC West Lanes in Mechanicsburg. He attended Christian Life Assembly, Camp Hill. He participated for several years on the church softball league, and he also hit the greens with the golf league. Robert is survived by his wife, Rebecca of Elliottsburg; his parents of Graham, Texas; one sister, Amy of Bryson, Texas, and her two sons, Lane and Tyler; sister-inlaw Deb and her husband Dean and son Matthew; brother-in-law Terry and his son Michael; brother-in-law Dale and his wife Vicki and their children Thomas and Sarah; brother-in-law Daniel and his wife Julie and their daughter Lindsey; brother-in-law John and his wife Brenda; niece Christa of Muncy, Pa.; and nephew Eric of Kadena AB, Japan; several aunts, uncles and cousins in Texas. A celebration of Robert's life will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at 12 p.m. at Christian Life Assembly, 2645 Lisburn Road, Camp Hill, Pa., with the Rev. Bob Kapp officiating. Burial with full military honors will take place following the service in the Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, at 2 p.m. A viewing will be held Wednesday from 1011:45 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 800 Corporate Circle, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
