Bakalorz, 81, of North Londonderry Township, Lebanon County, died Saturday, April 19, 2008, in the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. He was the husband of Hanna Tomzyck Bakalorz. They were married on March 20, 1964. He was born to Caesar Scheib and Bertha Bakalorz on September 25, 1926, in Berlin, Germany. He served from August 1944 to December 1946 in the German Military, and was held in both the British and Russian POW camps. In July of 1950, he received his degree in mechanical engineering from Ingenieur-Schule Beuth in Berlin. From February 1953 to January 1954, he completed his studies in robotics at the University of Minnesota at St. Paul. He worked from January 1951 to July 1960 at AEG in Berlin; August 1960 through 1964 at Ullstein GmbH in Berlin; 1965 to 1966 for Atomkraftwerk in Munich, Germany; 1966 to 1967 for Atomic Energy in Toronto, Canada; March 1967 to September 1969 for Boeing Company in Seattle, Wash.; October 1969 to December 1973 for Texas Instruments in Dallas, Texas; and January 1974 to January 1994 for AMP Inc. in Harrisburg, where he retired from. His hobbies included radio amateur operating with the call signs DL7JX and KE3EZ, and he was a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. Surviving in addition to his wife Hanna are his children, Martin R. Bakalorz and his wife Maryanne of Havertown, Marian P. Bakalorz Mack and her husband Brian of Sackets Harbor, N.Y., and Ingrid R. Bakalorz Blubaugh and her husband William of Hummelstown; five grandchildren, Quincy and Elliot Blubaugh, Jonathan, Christopher and Matthew Bakalorz. Relatives and friends are invited for a time of visitation on Thursday, April 24, 2008, from 6-7 p.m. at the Rothermel Funeral Home Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra.
