Baldwin, 87, of Palmyra died Friday morning, August 15, 2008, at the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home in Palmyra, with his wife, Myrle, at his bedside. Born in Palmyra on November 22, 1920, he was the son of the late John and Fannie (Meashey) Baldwin. He is survived by his wife, Myrle (Hoke) Baldwin, daughter Sally A. of Jacksonville, Florida; son John W., husband of Joni Taylor- Baldwin of Lancaster; and two grandchildren, Shannon and Taylor Baldwin. A World War II U.S. Navy veteran serving in the Pacific Theatre, Dan was well known as a baseball player who pitched for Palmyra High School, and later, as a pitcher for various adult leagues. He loved fishing, and caught many bass from Swatara Creek. A meat cutter by trade, he operated his own door to door business throughout the Palmyra, Hershey and Hummelstown area, eventually retiring from ASK Foods. It is Dan's wish that a simple graveside service be held at the family burial site at Gravel Hill Cemetery in Palmyra. Services will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at 1 p.m. Arrangements are entrusted to Auer Memorial Home and Cremation Services Inc., Harrisburg.
