Balsbaugh, 87, of 125 Mayfield Drive, Lititz, passed away on June 1, 2008, at Lancaster General Hospital following an automobile accident. Born in Bethel, he was the son of the late Howard and Minnie Keeney Balsbaugh. He was married for 62 years to Arlene Sands Balsbaugh of Lititz. He graduated in 1939 from Bethel High School. Lester served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II as an airplane mechanic in the African and Italian campaigns. Prior to his retirement in 1985, he was employed as a parts maker for RCA for 32 years. He was a member of the Lititz Church of the Brethren, the Rose of Sharon Sunday School Class, and the VFW of Ephrata. He loved the outdoors, particularly flower gardening. Surviving in addition to his wife, are a son, Dennis Balsbaugh; one granddaughter; two greatgrandchildren; brother Carl, husband of Faye Balsbaugh of Myerstown; and a sister, Mabel Gerberich of the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, Palmyra. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Laura Bashore and Grace Royer. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Lititz Church of the Brethren, 300 W. Orange St., Lititz, with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Kissel Hill Lutheran Cemetery.
