Barnhart, Florence Elizabeth Florence Barnhart ANNVILLE Florence Elizabeth Barnhart, 81, formerly of 150 N. College Avenue, Annville, died on Thursday, January 10, 2008, in the Good Samaritan Hospital. She was currently living at Kindred Place, Annville. Born May 13, 1926, at 150 N. College Avenue, Annville, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Elizabeth Rechard Barnhart. Florence was a 1944 graduate of Annville High School and a 1947 graduate of Lebanon Valley College. In 1955 she received a Master of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Following graduation from LVC, she served 13 years under the Board of Foreign Missions of the United Brethren Church (now the United Methodist Church) in the Hartford School for Girls in Moyamba, Sierra Leone, West Africa. Florence taught English, math, history, and organized a Girl Guide program. Upon her return to the United States, she was the leader of a Senior Girl Scout Troop in Annville. From 1959 to 1990, she taught English in the Derry Township School District in both junior and senior high schools. In addition to classroom activities, she was yearbook advisor and costume coordinator of the high school musicals. Florence was a lifetime member of the Annville United Methodist Church and a Sunday school teacher in the Junior Department. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, an international women teachers' organization; Lebanon Valley College Auxiliary, where she served several terms as treasurer and as a membership chairman; Annville Homestudy Circle; American Association of University Women; Lebanon County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, where she served as secretary; the Embroiderers' Guild of America; Hershey Education Association Retired Teachers; the Derry Township retired teachers' Breakfast Bunch; Friends of Old Annville; Lebanon County Historical Society and the Cornwall Manor Society. Surviving are a sister, Bonnie West, of Cornwall Manor; nieces Jill Westerhoff of Orlando, Florida, and Beth, wife of Steven Drebber of Woodstock, Vermont; a nephew, Jack, husband of Wan Lan Westerhoff of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; three grandnephews Tyler, Jason, and Daniel; one grandniece Amy. Forence E. Barnhart memorial services will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2008, at 11 a.m. in the Kreamer Funeral Home. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Mt.
