  Ruth E. Becker, age 97, formerly of First Street, Pine Grove, passed away on 
  Wednesday, May 14, in the E.C.C. Retirement Home in Myerstown. Born on January 
  28, 1911, in Pine Grove, she was the daughter of the late Mary Witmer 
  Zimmerman. She had been a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Pine Grove, 
  where she was the oldest living confirmed member. She had been employed as a 
  garment worker for the former Hess's, former Fox-Knapp Mfg. and former Summit 
  Station Mfg. in Pine Grove. Ruth loved to bake and was a big Phillies fan. 
  Preceding her in death were her husband of 45 years, Irvin H. Becker, on June 
  12, 1977; a grandson, Robert Dibble, in 1982; and a daughter-in-law, Carol 
  Becker, in 1998. She was the last and oldest member of the Witmer family. 
  Surviving are two sons, Robert, husband of Jean Becker, and Richard Becker of 
  Pine Grove; a daughter, Loretta, wife of Barry Rohrer of Myerstown; seven 
  grandchildren; 10 greatgrandchildren; eight great-greatgrandchildren. Funeral 
  services will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2008, at 3 p.m. in the H.L. Snyder 
  Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, with Dr. Richard W. Schoenleber officiating. 
  There will be a viewing on Saturday, May 17, from 1 p.m. until time of service 
  at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, West 
  Wood Street, Pine Grove. The family would prefer, in lieu of flowers, donations 
  be given to St. Peter's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 312 S. Tulpehocken St., 
  Pine Grove, PA 17963, in her memory.
