  John R. Black, 83, formerly of Cocoa Avenue, Hershey, died Monday, August 25, 
  2008, in the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, Palmyra. Born May 30, 1925, in the 
  Cocoa Avenue home, he was the son of the late John R. Sr. and Lillian 
  (Holsberg) Black. John was a former member of the Derry Presbyterian Church in 
  Hershey, and recently attended church at the brethren home. He is survived by 
  his sister-inlaw, Amelia L. Black of Hershey; three nieces, Linda (Black) Davis 
  of West Chester, Pa., Connie (Black) Blocher of Cape May, N.J., and Ann (Black) 
  Behney of West Chester, Pa.; four nephews, Jon L. Black of Hershey, Tim L. 
  Black of Hebron, Ky., William D.H. Black of Elliottsburg, Pa., and Dean R. 
  Black of Hampton, Va.; eight grand-nieces; seven grand-nephews; two great-grand-
  nieces; and four great-grandnephews. In addition to his parents, he was 
  predeceased by a brother, William D.H. Black Sr. John worked for most of his 
  life at Penn National Insurance Company, Harrisburg, retiring in 1987. He was a 
  World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, and a member of Brownstone 
  Lodge No. 666 F&AM, Hershey. He was a graduate of Hershey High School and the 
  former Hershey Junior College. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on 
  Friday, August 29, 2008, in the chapel of the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, 
  Palmyra. Interment with military honors will be in the Indiantown Gap National 
  Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made 
  to The Good Samaritan Fund, Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, 1200 Grubb Street, 
  Palmyra, PA 17078.
