Boger, 87, of Cornwall Manor, formerly of Lebanon, died Friday, March 14, 2008, in Cornwall Manor. He was the husband of Thelma Boyer Boger, with whom he celebrated a 66th wedding anniversary in January. They were married in the former Centenary Methodist Episcopal Church on January 24, 1942, by the Rev. Alfred Kuder. He was the son of the late Irvin and Elizabeth Pressel Boger. He was born in Lebanon on January 17, 1921. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church since 1942. He was a 1938 graduate of Lebanon High School, and retired from the Bethlehem Steel Foundry in 1982, where he was the boiler shop foreman. He attended the Lincoln Electric Welding & Proper Maintenance Schooling in Cleveland, Ohio, Detroit Engineering, Tool & Die Welding Co. in Detroit, Mich., and the American Welding Society. He served in the U.S. Army with Co. B, 175th Engineers, in Italy during World War II as a staff sergeant. He received two Bronze Battle Stars. While stationed in Italy, he participated in the construction of the largest semi-permanent railroad bridge ever built by the army engineers over the Po River, spanning 1, 260 feet. He was a member of Mount Lebanon Lodge No. 226 F&AM, where he served as worshipful master in 1970; member of Quittapahilla Forest No. 25 Tall Cedars, where he served as grand tall cedar in 1975. He was a member of the Harrisburg Consistory, Zembo Temple Shrine, Lebanon County Shrine Club, Lebanon Council No. 127, Weidle Royal Arch Chapter No. 197, Hermit Commandery Lebanon Council No. 27, charter member of the Quittie Woods, where he was treasurer for 11 years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 72, TPA Post "E," Lebanon Senior Center, and was a member of the Highland Manor Hunting Club in Lycoming County, as well as the Cornwall Manor Society. In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, David L. Boger of Jonestown; daughter, Rhonda S. Slaten of Lebanon; granddaughters, Sherine S. Yordy of Lebanon, Amy J. Boger of Fredericksburg; greatgrandchildren, Peter Karpew Jr. of Christ Church, New Zealand, Gabrielle Shifflett of Lebanon, Juddson Erdman of Annville; great- greatgrandchildren, twins, Amelia and Owen Sidauga of Fredericksburg. He is preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Ann Witman, formerly of Hughesville, Pa. Private funeral service will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Masonic service will be held Monday at 6:45 p.m. in the Rohland Funeral Home Inc., Fifth and Cumberland streets, followed by a viewing from 7-8 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Masonic Charities, One Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, PA 17022; or Trinity U.M. Church, 757 Willow St., Lebanon 17046.
