Floyd D. Bomgardner, 86, died Monday, May 12, 2008, in Cedar Haven Nursing Home, Lebanon. He was the husband of the late Christine M. Grimes Bomgardner, who died September 1, 1983. He was born on December 8, 1921, to John A. and Minnie Martin Bomgardner in South Annville Township, Lebanon County. He retired from the U.S. Army as a lieutenant colonel for Indiantown Gap Military Reserve, Annville. He was a World War II decorated veteran, belonging to the VFW and American Legion. He was of Methodist faith, an avid bowler and a member of the Lebanon County Bowler's Association. Surviving are his sons, Floyd D. "Jack" Bomgardner Jr. and his wife Juanita of Middletown, and Earl J. Bomgardner of Cedar Haven Nursing Home, Lebanon; a grandson, Christopher R. Bomgardner of Lebanon; and a sister, Nancy Ulrich of Lancaster, Pa. Relatives and friends are invited for a time of viewing on Thursday, May 15, 2008, from 6-7 at the Rothermel Funeral Home Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, followed by his funeral at 7 p.m. Burial with full military honors will be on Friday, May 16, 2008, at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Disabled American Veterans, Department of Pennsylvania, 4219 Trindle Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
