(Shirk) Bowman, 97, formerly of Columbia Cottage died peacefully Sunday, February 3, 2008, surrounded by her loving family at the Twin Oaks Nursing Home in Campbelltown. She was the wife of the late J. Clarence Bowman, who died October 9, 1962. She was born in South Londonderry Township on January 13, 1911, to Edwin and Mary Herr Shirk. She was a farm wife. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and baking. She was a member of the Campbelltown United Methodist Church and the Farm Women's Group Chapter 13. She is survived by a son, John C. Bowman and his wife Connie of Lebanon; and a daughter, Ruth M. Keener and her husband Larry of Palmyra; six grandchildren; 12 greatgrandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; sisters Alma Hall of Hershey, Mabel Hinkley of Hummelstown and Frances Gruber of New Cumberland; and a brother, Albert Shirk of Shellsville. Preceding her in death are brothers Arthur and David Shirk, and sisters Hilda Carpenter, Margaret Peters and Janice Sheetz. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time for viewing on Friday, February 8, 2008, from 10-11 a.m. at the Rothermel Funeral Home Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, followed by her funeral service with the Rev. J. Thomas Truitt officiating. Burial will follow at the Mount Annville Cemetery.
