The Rev. Boyce was 86 years old, and lived at Kindred Place in Annville, Pa. Born in Santiago, Chile, to Clarence and Martha Boyce, David was raised in Minnesota. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he met his beloved wife, Birdie (Margaret) Lee, while both were stationed at Fort Indiantown Gap. After the war, he attended and graduated from Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He also served during the Korean War before working at Columbia University as the assistant registrar. He had degrees from New Brunswick and New York theological seminaries, and was an emeritus pastor in the Reformed Church in America. During his 30 some year career, he pastored churches in Somerville, N.J., and Glenmont, N.Y., before retiring from the historic Newtown Reformed Church in Elmhurst, Queens, New York. His last pastorate had Korean, Taiwanese, and Indian congregations worshiping in the landmark building, in addition to the original congregants. In 1988, David and Birdie retired to Palmyra, Pa., and became volunteers at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon and Hershey Medical Center, and visitors for the Trinity UCC in Palmyra, Pa. They moved into Kindred Place in Annville, Pa., where they led bible study for several years, before finally retiring from active volunteering. In addition to his wife of 63 years, the Rev. Boyce will be sorely missed by four daughters, Jan (Bill) Townsend of Oxford, Pa., Marti (Greg) Spear of Harrisburg, Pa., Kate (Ken) Sampson of Springfield, Va., and Sabrina (Fen) Chen of San Jose, California; six grandchildren, Jill, Michael, Megan, Jennifer, Theresa, and Daniel; and one greatgrandson, Brendan. David and Birdie were vigilant prayer warriors, praying daily for family, countless friends and concerns during their daily devotional times. David enjoyed writing letters, reading poetry, camping, and his many "grand-dogs." Although no longer able to volunteer, David faithfully supported many ministries. Services will be held on Monday, August 25, at 11 a.m. at the Kreamer Funeral Home, 618 East Main St., Annville, PA 17003. Interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, with full military honors. There will be a viewing from 9:30 a.m.-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
