Brommer, age 86, formerly of Pine Grove passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2008, in Tremont Health & Rehabilitation Center. Born Saturday, July 8, 1922, in Pine Grove, he was a son of the late Daniel and Beulah Owens Brommer. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Pine Grove. Clarence was a Tech.3 in the U.S. Army, having served during World War II with the Detachment Medical Department, 1278th Service Command Unit. He received the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theater Ribbon, and the World War II Victory Ribbon. He was a past commander of the Pine Grove American Legion Post 374, a past state Sergeant of Arms with the American Legion, and served many years with the local veterans honor guard unit. He was a life member of H. H. & L. Fire Co. No. 1. Clarence worked as a foreman for Garden State Tannery. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace E. Lightcap Brommer, on December 24, 2006, and a brother, Russell Brommer. Surviving are son Clarence S. Brommer II of Allentown, Pa.; daughter Sallie L. Wetzel of Pennsylvania; three grandsons, Aaron Brommer, Paul Brommer, Jacob Wetzel; granddaughter Denise Wetzel; three sisters, Thelma Clements of Pine Grove, Pa., Mary Ann Daubert of Pine Grove, Pa., Jane Brommer of Pine Grove, Pa.; two brothers, Owen "Mike" Brommer of Schuylkill Haven, Jim Brommer of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; nieces and nephews. Services will be held at H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Monday, November 10, 2008, at 10 a.m. with Dr. Richard Schoenleber officiating. Interment will follow in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, Pa. Friends will be received 9-10 a.m. Monday, November 10, at the H.L. Snyder Funeral Home, Pine Grove, Pa. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to the St. Peter's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 312 S. Tulpehocken St., Pine Grove, PA 17963.
