Miller shabodeho@aol.com September 9, 2008, 11:01 am Published in the Lebanon Daily News on 8/23/2008 Brooks, Jean Karinch Jean Karinch Brooks, 71, of Lebanon, died Wednesday, August 20, 2008. She was the wife of Charles M. Brooks, Jr. to whom she was married for 47 years. Born in Lebanon on December 2, 1936, she was the eldest daughter of the late Matthew "Tip" and Margaret Erdman Karinch. She graduated from Cornwall High School in 1954; Maryland Medical Secretarial School, Hagerstown, MD, in 1955; the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, Philadelphia, PA, in 1959; and was a Registered Nurse. Jean was a member of St. Mary's Church, the Lebanon Country Club, the Quentin Riding Club, and other community organizations and alumni associations. She served on numerous boards and committees and taught CCD. She especially enjoyed playing tennis and golf, and volunteering at Cedar Haven on 1-C. In addition to her husband, she is survived by children James M. Brooks of Lebanon; Laura Brooks Gleason, wife of Charles R. Gleason III of Maryland; and Michael C. Brooks, husband of Amy Kreiser Brooks of Cornwall; grandchildren Lindsay Jean Brooks, Charles R. Gleason IV, Brenna Jean Gleason, Austin Thomas Gleason, Kayla Elizabeth Brooks, and Emma Jean Brooks. She is also survived by sisters Nancy, wife of Arthur Keen of Coatesville; and Susan, wife of Samuel Alexander of New Hampshire; brother Karl, husband of Anne MacLeod Karinch of Cornwall; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, September 5, at 10:30 AM at St. Mary's Church, 2 N. 8th St., Lebanon, with a visitation prior to mass from 9- 10:30 AM at the church. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jean's name may be made to St. Mary's Church Debt Reduction, 2 N. 8th St. Lebanon, PA 17046, or to the charity of your choice. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., Lebanon, is in charge of the arrangements.
