Brunner, 85, of Whisper Wood Lane, Harrisburg, died Monday, June 23, 2008, at the Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg. Born September 14, 1922, in Shermans Dale, he was a son of the late William W. and Ellen Jane (Forrey) Brunner. He retired from Chocolate Workers Union Local 464 after working many years for Hershey Foods, was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a former member of Palm Lutheran Church, Palmyra. He was active in Chocolate Workers Union Local 464, including being a member of the executive board, Pennsylvania AFL-CIO Community Services Committee, and community services committee of the Harrisburg Region Central Labor Council, chairman of the community services committee, delegate to the Harrisburg Region Central Labor Council, trustee of the Union Home Association, consumer member of the South Central Pennsylvania Health Planning Council, graduate of the Union Leadership Academy at Penn State, and the 1975 chairman of the Labor Participation Division of the Tri-County United Way Campaign. He was an avid hunter and gardener; huge NASCAR fan, especially Dale Earnhardt; and the best husband in the world. Surviving are his wife, Emma (Scott) Brunner, to whom he was happily married for 64 years; sons Theodore P., husband of Mary Brunner of Harrisburg, Terry J. Brunner of New Cumberland, and Troy S., husband of Maryann Brunner of Hershey; brother William Brunner of Shermans Dale; grandchildren Tysha, wife of Micha Hallman of Guam, Cheyenne Brunner of Sunbury, Troy J. Brunner and David P. Brunner, both of Hershey; greatgrandson Chase L. Hallman of Guam; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Lee T. Brunner; and a sister, Olive Yohn. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2008, at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 7 Boundary Road, Grantville. Burial with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Viewing 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday, June 26, 2008, at Buse Funeral Home, 145 North Grant Street, Palmyra.
