Miller shabodeho@aol.com October 1, 2008, 7:16 pm Published in the Lebanon Daily News on 9/23/2008 Case, Donald R. Donald R. Case, 69, Gladstone, Mo., formerly of the Mt. Zion area, passed into the presence of Jesus and reunited with a beloved son, Gregory, on Saturday, September 6, 2008, after a valiant fight with Parkinson's Disease since 1995. He was born May 22, 1939, and raised in Little Genesee, N.Y., to George Edward and Flossie Mildred Barlow Case. He graduated from Bolivar Central High School in Bolivar, N.Y., in 1957, then attended Salem College, Salem, W.V., graduating with a B.A. degree in sociology in 1962. In his youth, he was active in Boy Scouts and attained Eagle Scout. He was an executive with Boy Scouts of America for about a year in Syracuse, N.Y. He served three years in the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Germany for a time. In 1966, he made a trip to visit his brother and family in Kansas City and stayed. He went to work for Travelers Insurance Co. as a claims adjuster, and was transferred to Springfield, Mo., where he met and married his wife of 41 years, Florence. After a few years, he decided to change careers, went to truck driving school, and began his lifelong career driving coast to coast. He retired in 1999 from Roadway Express with 25 years of service, and attained one million accident-free miles. Don was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Burdette, George Jr., and Hugh DeWayne; and a dear, precious son, Gregory. He is survived by his wife, Florence; daughter Charla and Tony Parkhurst of Indianapolis, Ind.; son Brad and Kristy Case of Albuquerque, N.M.; grandchildren Shanna, Nathan, Rebecca and Spencer; step-grandsons Kyle and Caleb; brother Harvey and Mary Case of Peculiar, Mo.; sister Helen Randolph of Portville, N.Y. He is also survived by in-laws, nieces and nephews, and extended family. Don was a member of Northland Cathedral, Kansas City, Mo. The last few years, he resided at Garden Valley Manor in Kansas City, where he received good care and made friends with everyone. Funeral and burial were September 12, 2008, in southwest Missouri.
