Chao returned home to the Lord unexpectedly on March 20, 2008 at home in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. A deeply devout Christian, lifelong church and community volunteer, Jeanette is the beloved daughter of Dr. James S. C. Chao and Mrs. Ruth Mulan Chu Chao, beloved sister of Elaine, May, Christine, Grace, and Angela and beloved aunt to Ben and Tyler Shaver, Alexia and Penelope Hartogensis, and Miranda Mei and Jessica Ruth Chao Hwang. Jeanette was born in the Republic of China and came to the United States at the age of five without knowing how to speak any English. She and her family settled first in Jamaica, New York where she attended P. S. 117. The family then moved to Syosset, New York where she attended Southwoods Junior High School and graduated from Syosset High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She attended Connecticut College and graduated from Smith College with an A. B. degree in Economics. She also holds a Masters in Business Administration degree from the College of William and Mary. Faith was the focus of her life. A committed believer and follower of the Lord, she was actively involved in her church, Living Waters Chapel, Lebanon, PA. Her many volunteer activities include working with American House Personal Care Home and serving as the secretary of the local affiliate of Aglow International, a woman's Christian organization. A memorial service will be held at Living Waters Chapel, 1900 Jay Street, Lebanon, PA 17046 on Saturday, March 22, 2008 at 10am. Kreamer Funeral Home, Annville is in charge of arrangements.
