Corl, Harlan Robert Harlan Robert Corl CLAY TOWNSHIP Harlan Robert Corl, 82, entered into rest on January 11, 2008, having died unexpectedly while visiting a favorite Friday haunt, the Green Dragon. Born in Clay Township on March 28, 1925, he was the son of the late Frank and Daisy (Hehnly) Corl of Hopeland. "Jinx", as he was known to his co-workers, scouting comrades, and friends, worked for more than 30 years with the Bethlehem Steel Corporation, most of those years in the carpenters' shop. He was an accomplished carpenter by trade; he built the home that he lived in his entire adult life in Schoeneck, with his wife, Mary Lou (Hemling) Corl, who passed away 13 years ago. He spent many of his last years building bookcases, picture frames, and birdhouses for family and friends, as woodworking was his hobby. He was a decorated World War II U.S. Navy veteran in the Pacific Theatre and the Aleutian Islands. He was awarded the Pacific Theatre Ribbon with two stars, Good Conduct Ribbon, American Theatre Ribbon, Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Star, and the Purple Heart. He devoted over 40 years of his life to the scouting movement; he himself was a vigil honor member of the Order of the Arrow; he did a tremendous amount of work assisting the Throwing Bull Tribe, a group of local adult scouters dedicated to improvements at the local scout council camps. In addition, he belonged to the United Steel Workers Union, the Schoeneck Fire Company, and the Reinholds Ambulance Association. An avid coin collector, he thoroughly enjoyed being a member of the Lancaster Red Rose Coin Club. Surviving him are his three children, Terry R. Corl of Ephrata, husband of Cynthia (Bell) Corl, Frances E. Corl of Bethlehem, and Anthony B. Corl of Akron, husband of Beth A. (Good) Corl. In addition, he is survived by his brother Alfred Corl, Akron; and his two sisters, June Knox, Leola, and Neita Messner, Ephrata. Also three grandchildren survive him, Kimberly (Corl) Brickley of Annville, wife of Dale, and Lyndsay and Logan Corl, both children of Anthony and Beth Corl; also a greatgrandchild, Julianna Orner; and three stepgrandchildren, Tina Wojoack, Tammy Bell and Sue Minnich. The funeral will be on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Mellinger's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 80 Gockley Road, Schoeneck. Interment will follow in Mellinger's Cemetery. There will be viewing on Tuesday from 68 p.m. in the Roseboro Funeral Home, 533 Walnut St., Denver, and on Wednesday at the church from 9-10 a.m. Published in the Lebanon Daily News on 1/13/2008.
