Col., USAF, retired, died on Thursday, January 24, 2008, after an extended battle with Parkinson's disease. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 1, at 10 a.m. at the Rohland Funeral Home, 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon, with a viewing beginning on Friday at 9 a.m. Graveside services will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Dr. Early was the son of Henry and Florence Early of Lebanon and was preceded in death by his sisters, Miriam and Lillian, and his brother, Quentin. Dr. Early was a 1953 graduate of Lebanon Valley College and received his medical degree from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa. He then joined the U.S. Air Force and began his distinguished career as a physician to the original Mercury Seven NASA astronauts while stationed at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia. Later in his military career he was transferred to Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland, where he achieved the respected position of chief of radiology at the prestigious Malcolm Grow Medical Center. Andrews is home to the President's plane, Air Force One, and to many of the highest ranking officers of the Air Force. Dr. Early retired from the Air Force as a lieutenant colonel in 1973. He then established a private practice in Waldorf, Md., and eventually sold it to begin a career of semiretirement, often taking contract work as a radiologist for hospitals and practices in need of support. Dr. Early eventually ended his professional career moving back to his hometown of Lebanon, where he resided at Cornwall Manor, Hill Farm Estates, and finally at Spang Crest Manor near the end of his life. Dr. Early is survived by his loving brother, retired Reverend Henry R. Early of Lebanon. He was married for 23 years to the late Dolores Curran Early of Philadelphia, Pa. He is also survived by his children, Warren L. Early Jr. of Maidens, Va., Keith L. Early of Johnson City, Tenn., and Dolores L. Cody of Alexandria, Va. He also has four grandchildren, Aaron Early, Owen Early, Brian Early and Christiana Cody.
