Eberly, 85, formerly of Flying Hills, died Feb. 4, 2008, in the Masonic Home, Elizabethtown, where she had been a resident. Born in Lebanon, she was a daughter of the late Dr. Ira H. and Edith (Gleim) Spangler. During World War II, she worked in the art department at Fort Indiantown Gap. Later, she was employed by Edward Michiner Associates, Harrisburg, as a commercial artist. Upon moving to Reading during the 1950s, she became a portrait artist in this area until her retirement in the late 1990s. She was a member of Calvary United Church of Christ, Reading. She was a 1940 graduate of Lebanon High School. She was a 1942 graduate of Linden Hall Junior College, Lititz, with a degree in fine arts. She also studied fine arts at the Institute of the Arts, Wyomissing, with Jack Coggins. She was a member of the Lebanon Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Lebanon Women's Club, a past director of the board of the Reading YWCA; Berks Art Alliance and was involved with the Junior League of Reading. Surviving are two sons, R. Scott Eberly, Flying Hills, and Stuart G. Eberly, husband of Ann (McElroy) Eberly, Reading. Other survivors include three grandsons: Tyler M., Gabriel S. and Isaac B. Eberly. She was predeceased by two brothers, Raymond C. and Robert G. Spangler. Memorial services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in Calvary UCC, 640 Center Ave., Reading. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Institute of the Arts, 1100 Belmont Ave., Wyomissing, PA 19610.
