Ebright, 86, of Lancaster went to be with his Savior Wednesday, December 16, 2008, at Brethren Village. Born May 21, 1922, in South Annville Township, Lebanon County, he was a son of the late Harvey W. Sr. and Pauline (Heberling) Ebright. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, and best friend of 77 years, Esther M. (Wagner) Ebright of Lancaster. The Rev. Ebright graduated from Lebanon Senior High School in 1940, where he was a member of the championship Lebanon Boro Rams football team. In 1942, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he was a staff sergeant in the 413th VMB, and served in the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific. Upon his return, he was employed as a toolmaker at Bethlehem Steel. After graduating from Lebanon Valley College in 1959, Harvey attended the United Theological Seminary, graduating in 1962 to become an ordained Methodist minister. Since 1955, the Rev. Ebright has served in Evangelical United Brethren and United Methodist churches in various locations in Lebanon, Lancaster, Dauphin, Berks, and Chester counties in Pennsylvania, and in Ithaca, Ohio. Most recently, the Rev. Ebright was an active and integral part of the fellowship at First United Methodist Church on Walnut Street in Lancaster. Harvey had a fondness for ice cream, soft pretzels, fishing, camping, and collecting state quarters. In addition to his wife, the Rev. Ebright is survived by three daughters, Airin Green of State College, Colleen K. Ebright of South Tahoe Lake, California, and Carol A. Ebright of Reisterstown, Maryland; and his nieces and nephews, Myrle Scott, Mary Ann McClarnon, Elizabeth Lucysyzn, Fred Lupien, and David Grumbine. The Rev. Ebright was preceded in death by his sister, Myrle Keller. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2008, at the First United Methodist Church, 29 East Walnut Street, Lancaster, with the Rev. David Myers and the Rev. Dr. Kent Kroehler officiating. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Grand View Memorial Park in Annville, Pa. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Committee on Relief, P.O. Box 9068, N.Y., NY 10087. The Gundel Funeral Home Inc. is assisting the family with arrangements.
