Emenheiser, 54, of 145 Sherri Drive, Lebanon, went home peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at home. She was married to Timothy C. Emenheiser for 32 years. A loyal and longtime employee of the YMCA, Karen worked for the Lebanon Valley YMCA in childcare for 16 years, and then as the human resources director for the past four years. Previously, she was employed by the Brookville, Altoona, and Jim Thorpe YMCAs. An active member of Calvary Chapel Lebanon, she participated in the Monday night Bible Study, and in outreach and fellowship events. She was a 1971 graduate of Elkland High School, Elkland, Pa., and received her Bachelor of Science degree in health and physical education from Lock Haven State College in 1975. Karen loved to cook and especially enjoyed creating health food dishes for her family. An avid fitness walker, she also enjoyed scrap booking and traveling, taking trips throughout the United States and Europe. Always enthusiastic and vibrant, Karen was known as a giving person, showing real appreciation and concern for those less fortunate. Born in Elmira, New York, she was the daughter of Weldon and Audrey Flanders Bailey, Elkland, Pa. In addition to her husband and parents, Karen will be deeply missed by her three children, Barrett, married to Karen L. Avers Emenheiser, Harrisburg, Karli, married to Adam Truitt, McAlisterville, and Brooke Emenheiser, Lebanon; and two brothers, Robert, married to Marge Kizer Bailey, Penn Yan, N.Y., and Dennis, married to Cheryl Simpson Bailey, Elkland, Pa. A memorial service celebrating Karen's life will be held this spring and announced at a later date. Interment is private. Karen's family would like to thank the Good Samaritan Hospital Hospice, Lebanon, for their attentive care during her illness. In lieu of flowers to the family, memorial contributions in Karen's name may be made to Calvary Chapel Lebanon, 9 South Ninth St., Lebanon, PA 17042; or to the Lebanon Valley YMCA, 201 North Seventh St., Lebanon, PA 17046.
