Flowers, Jr., 83,of Hershey passed away Friday, August 1, 2008 in the Hospice Unit of the VA Medical Center, Lebanon. He was born January 25, 1925 in Harrisburg, a son of the late Paul M., Sr and Elizabeth (Ebling) Flowers. Mr. Flowers was a retired truck driver for the Sterling Co. (formerly Lebanon Paper Box Co.) with 41 years of service; a WWII Army veteran where he served with the 1st Division (the Big Red 1) and participated in the Omaha Beach landing on D- Day, June 6, 1944. He attended the Fishburn United Methodist Church in Hershey and was a member of the Hershey American Legion. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Getz Flowers who he married July 13, 1946; a son Eric of Lehigh Valley; daughter-in-law Anne Marie Flowers; grandchildren Maria Catherine and Paul Eric Flowers all 3 of Hazelton. Also surviving are in-laws Robert & Dolly Getz of Hummelstown; Ruth Getz of Dauphin; Paul & Ruth Getz of Mechanicsburg; Kenneth & Charolette Getz of Mechanicsburg; Raymond Getz of New Bloomfield and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a son Paul M. Flowers III, a Viet Nam Veteran, who died March 31, 1983; a sister & her husband Hilda (Curley) & Lester Yeagley of Lebanon; 2 brothers James & wife Dorothy Flowers of Dillsburg and Walter and his wife Caroline Flowers of Lebanon. He was also predeceased by in-laws Robert & Katie Getz of Mechanicsburg; Mildred & Elam Wagner of Lebanon; William Getz of Dauphin; and Alice & Pete Donovan of Etters. Services will be held Tuesday, August 5, 2008, at 12:30 PM in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Route #422 & Lucy Avenue, Hershey. Friends may call Tuesday from 11:30 am until service time at the funeral home. Interment with Military Honors will be in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
