Fox, 95, of Spang Crest Manor, Lebanon, died Wednesday, December 10, 2008, at the home. Born August 13, 1913, in Morea, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George and Ella Gettinger Fox. She retired as a secondary school teacher. She taught English and history at Mahanoy Township High School and Westfield High School, New Jersey. She later served as a guidance counselor and college consultant at Evanston High School, Evanston, Ill. She was a graduate of Ursinus College with a B.A. degree, and attained two master's degrees at NYU - an M.A. in social studies, and an M.A. in guidance and personnel. She was a member of St. Cecilia's Church, and had been a lector and Eucharistic minister at the former St. Gregory's Parish, Lebanon. She is survived by four nieces, Nancy Schriver of California, Elizabeth DeJong of Carlisle, Mary Griffith of Lebanon, and Patricia Fox-Shearer of Glen Allen, Va.; two nephews, Robert and George Lord of California; numerous great-nieces and greatnephews; and great-greatnieces; and great-greatnephews. Preceded in death by one brother, George E. Fox Jr.; one sister, Helen Lord; a nephew, Raymond "Buddy" Lord. Funeral Mass Saturday at 12 p.m. from St. Cecilia's Church, 202 E. Lehman St., Lebanon, Pa. Viewing Saturday from 11-12 at the church. Interment to follow Mass at German Protestant Cemetery, Mahanoy City, Pa. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Lebanon, is in charge of arrangements.
