"Raymie" Raymond T. "Raymie" Frey Sr. CORNWALL Raymond T. "Raymie" Frey Sr., 90, of Cornwall Manor died Saturday, March 8, 2008, in the home. He was the husband of Dorothy N. "Dottie" Null Frey, with whom he was married May 9, 1942. He was born May 7, 1917, in Lebanon, a son of the late Harry T. and Gertrude Bachman Frey. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was a 1935 graduate of Lebanon High School and 1939 graduate of Lebanon Valley College. Following graduation he was a teacher and coach at Marietta High School. He served as second lieutenant in the Corps of Engineers, and was blinded in February of 1943 in a booby trap explosion. After 50 years of blindness, he received a corneal transplant and he was able to regain some vision. He was inducted into the LVC Athletic Hall of Fame in the first year of selections for both football and basketball, and he received the outstanding alumnus award from the college. He was inducted into the Central Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame and the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. He was a team member of Sports Illustrated Silver Anniversary of the AllAmerican Football Team (one of 25 selected in the country). He was formerly active with the YMCA, the Y Men's Club; a member of the Lebanon Kiwanis Club; was the first national president of the Blinded Veteran Association; listed in Who's Who Among the Blind; a consultant to the Blind at the Valley Forge General Hospital in Phoenixville, Pa.; and received his physical therapy certification from the University of Pennsylvania. He was employed at the Willmington, VA Hospital and then transferred to the Lebanon VA Hospital, where he supervised the opening of the physical therapy department. Together with his wife, they prepared travelogue programs which were shared with friends, family, church and civic groups. He headed his high school reunion committee and worked with his college reunion committee. Surviving in addition to his wife are children, Carol Ann, spouse of George Hollich of Palmyra, and Raymond T. "Ted" Frey Jr., spouse of Nancy Frey of Lebanon; sister Annetta Tsvetanoff of Lebanon; grandchildren George Hollich III of LaFayette, Indiana, Kimberly Hollich of Elizabethtown, Loretta Fuller of Sunland, California, Jeffrey Frey of Bear, Delaware, Erin, spouse of Bradley Walters of Pottstown, and Thomas Frey of Lebanon; greatgrandchildren Sebastien Hollich, Julien Hollich and Carolyn Frey; sister- in-law Marie Frey of Lebanon; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by brothers Earl, Lester and Warren Frey. Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 22, 2008, at 3 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 757 Willow Street, Lebanon, PA 17046. Memorials can be sent to the memorial fund of his church.
