  Dorothy K. Funkhouser, 75, of 185 Fisher Ave., Jonestown, after a short 
  illness, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Tuesday, July 8, 
  2008, at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. She was the wife of William J. 
  Funkhouser, and on September 22nd, they would have celebrated their 52nd 
  wedding anniversary. Born in Lebanon County on May 28, 1933, she was the 
  daughter of the late John H. and Helen Sechrist Snyder. In 1992, she retired 
  from the U.S. Army Finance Department at Fort Indiantown Gap. She had great 
  cooking skills, and enjoyed making a big feast for everyone on many occasions. 
  Her collection of cookbooks are one of the largest in the county. She had a 
  large assortment of flowers planted in her beds, and could quote the technical 
  name of hundreds of plants. She loved to travel, so after retirement she and 
  her husband took many trips and visited every state but Hawaii. She was a 
  loving and devoted mother and friend, and we are sure the heavenly father has a 
  special place reserved for her. In addition to her husband, she is survived by 
  sons Daniel J. Funkhouser of Jonestown, John A. Funkhouser of York, Mark A., 
  husband of Cindy Funkhouser of Elizabethtown, Thomas E., husband of Denise 
  Funkhouser of Delaware; and four grandchildren. Memorial services will be held 
  on Monday, July 14, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 98 
  Fisher Ave., Jonestown. Strauss-Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home, Jonestown, is in 
  charge of the arrangements.
