Fureman, 80, of Trail Road, Hummelstown died Saturday, January 12, 2008 at her home. Born November 5, 1927 in Palmyra, she was a daughter of the late John H. and Ellen I. (Gerberich) Rhoad. She was an employee of Hershey Foods Corporation from 1944 ñ 1949 and then worked with her husband for 60 years on their family farm, Furfields Farm. She graduated May 28, 1944 from Hershey High School; was a member of Twin East Hanover Grange and Faith United Church of Christ, Grantville where she was a former member of the Women's Guild, the choir and a Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed baking, canning, sewing and was an avid reader. Surviving are her husband Melvin H. Fureman; children Rev. Dr. John E., husband of Rogie C. Fureman of Lebanon, Janice E., wife of Robert T. Small of Grantville, Melvin H., Jr., husband of Kathy L. Fureman of Linglestown, and Julia E., wife of Clifford S. Charles, III of New Tripoli; brother Warren J., husband of Arline B. Rhoad of Hershey; sister Myrle E., wife of Carl S. Boyer of Jonestown; grandchildren Brandy E. Fureman, Jared J. Fureman, Olivia E. DeBolt, Kevin S. Charles, Sasha N. Wright, Renee B. Fureman and Marci M. Fureman; step grandchildren Daniel R. Small and Jolene M. Mettle; great granddaughters Emma E. DeBolt and Kayla J. Charles; an uncle William, husband of Gladys Rhoads of Annville; an aunt Mabel Gerberich of Palmyra; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at her church; 117 North Faith Road, Grantville preceded by a viewing from 10 ñ 11 AM. Burial will be in Shells Cemetery, Grantville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Faith United Church of Christ, PO Box 2, Grantville, PA 17028.
