Garrison Sr., 76, of Lebanon passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2008, in his sleep. Born in Brown's Cove, Va., on June 19, 1932, he was the son of the late Melvin and Virginia Via Garrison. Ray loved the country so much that he enjoyed going to work as the maintenance man at the High Meadow Campground in Hershey to get away from the city life in Lebanon. He retired from the Hershey Chocolate Factory, where he had worked in the syrup department, and was a member of the Chocolate Worker's Union Local 464. Besides working, Ray also enjoyed golfing, playing the lottery, and watching football. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty L. Stoudt Garrison, whom he married on March 6, 1954; two daughters, Barbara Schroll of Lebanon, and Lynn Troup, wife of Rodney of Grantville; one son, Donald L. Garrison, husband of Georgia of Annville; one brother, Moses Garrison, husband of Linda of Palmyra; five sisters, Violet Taylor of Ono, Lucille Clugston, wife of Galen Sr. of Hummelstown, Susan Hoffman, wife of Robert, and Betty Jane Martin, wife of Thomas, both of Elizabethtown, and Genevieve Garrison of Palmyra; 12 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sons, Ronald Lee Garrison, Steven Lee Garrison and Raymond P. Garrison Jr.; two daughters, Virginia Mae Garrison and Cynthia Marie Garrison; and one brother, Franklin D. Garrison Sr. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2008, at 11 a.m. in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with Captain Moises Rivera of the Salvation Army, Lebanon. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home for a viewing Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Betty L. Garrison, 771 Maple Street, first floor, Lebanon, PA 17046.
