Gontz, 97, of the Masonic Village, and formerly of Palmyra, passed away Tuesday morning at the Masonic Village, Elizabethtown. She was the widow of Elmer E. Gontz, who died on December 1, 1968. She was born in Hegins, Pa., on November 30, 1910, and was the daughter of the late Francis and Agnes Huntzinger Stutzman. Esther was a 1926 graduate of the Palmyra High School, and was associated with the Senior Citizen groups of both Palmyra and Cleona. She was employed in the fitting rooms of the J. Landis and A.S. Kreider shoe companies in Palmyra. She was a member of the Palm Lutheran Church. She is survived by a son, David A. Gontz and his wife Patricia of Palmyra, and their two children, Dr. Allen M. Gontz and wife Larissa of Weymouth, Mass., and Ayleen K., wife of The Rev. Thomas E. Stellhorn of Littlestown. There are two greatgrandchildren, Rachel and Veroncia Stellhorn. She was preceded in death by two step-sons, Charles and Irvin Gonse. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at Hanoverdale Cemetery, Route 39.
