Miller shabodeho@aol.com July 25, 2008, 10:35 pm Published in the Lebanon Daily News on 7/13/2008 Gruber, Mae Bullock Mae Bullock Gruber, 89, of Palmyra and formerly of Upper Lawn died Friday, July 11, 2008 at the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home in Palmyra. Born in Lebanon on July 18, 1918, she was the daughter of Helen Coleman Bullock and Howard Phillip Bullock. Mae was the devoted wife of Harry G. Gruber for 66 years, who died in 2007. She is survived by daughters, Barbara G. Moyer, wife of H. Lee Moyer of Lebanon and Susan G. Edris of Palmyra; a brother, Donald H. Bullock of West Chester; and sisters, Joan Bullock Boyer of Lebanon and Gloria Bullock Mattioli of Lebanon. In addition, Mae is lovingly survived by nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Gretchen G. Kane of Palmyra and a great grandchild. Mae graduated from Lebanon High School in 1936 and worked at Lebanon Paper Box where she met Harry and they were married in 1940. They started their life together in Lebanon and later moved to Upper Lawn where they raised their family and lived until1992, when they moved to 5 Dogwood Lane in Palmyra. Mae worked for the Lawn School and retired from the PA Department of Transportation, Lebanon. Mae was a loving mother and busy member of the community. She was a faithful member of the Lawn E.C. Church for 63 years, serving in many capacities. She was an active member of the Lawn PTA, Elizabethtown Order of the Eastern Star, Palmyra Horticulture Society, Lawn Fire Co. Auxiliary, LVBH Red Hat Society, Hershey AARP, and served as judge of election in Lawn for many years. Mae and Harry loved to travel. But most of all, she loved her family. Mae's life will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 26th at Lawn Evangelical Congregational Church with a visitation following the service. A private interment will be held with the family in Salem United Church of Christ Cemetery, Campbelltown.
