"Buck" Gruber, 78, of Annville, formerly of Hummelstown, passed away Friday, August 1, 2008, in The Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. Born in Hershey on August 7, 1929, he was the son of the late Edwin H. and Bessie E. Shive Gruber. Ralph retired after 23 years of service as a warehouseman and truck driver from the Weyerhaeuser Company where he was one of the original employees its Ephrata plant. He had served with the Army National Guard. Ralph was a member of the Bellegrove United Methodist Church. He was a founding member, Past President and Vice President of the Hummelstown Field & Stream Association. Ralph was a life member of the Morris Run American Legion Post; and a member of the Teamsters Local 771, Lancaster; the Bellegrove Fire Company; the Rehrersburg Fire Company; and the Three Pines Hunting Camp in Tioga County. He was an avid hunter and fisherman; and loved gardening and his poodle "Midnight". Ralph is survived by his wife of 10 years, Nancy L. Brown Gruber, whom he married on October 25, 1997; three daughters, Lois Logan wife of Steven M. of Elizabethtown, Glenda M. Crawford fianc" of Jeff Hollinger of Lebanon, and Tracy H. Benson wife of R. Patrick of Annville; one son, Thomas E. Gruber husband of Jane L. of Richland; three stepdaughters, Veronica Kugle and Barbara Blouch wife of Mark both of Annville, and Diana Leathers wife of Kirby of Pataskla, OH; one step-son, Christopher Auman husband of Jacqueline of Myerstown; one brother, Willis M. Gruber husband of Betty of Hummelstown; two sisters, Marian J. Fansler wife of Marvin of Bernville, and Catherine Kuykendall of New Caney, TX; 11 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda L. Gruber, and a step-son, Edwin Auman. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2008, at 11 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with Pastor David R. Alderson officiating. Interment will be in Shenk's Community Church Cemetery, Conewago Township. Friends are invited to the viewings in the funeral home Tuesday, August 5, 2008, from 6 to 8 PM and Wednesday from 10 AM until time of the service.
