Miller shabodeho@aol.com December 8, 2008, 2:43 pm Published in the Lebanon Daily News on 11/25/2008 Hocker, Erma Rearick Erma Rearick Hocker, 82, formerly of Hummelstown passed away Saturday, November 22, 2008, in the Lebanon Valley Home, Annville. Born in Hershey on July 3, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Luther and Maggie Schiffler Rearick. Erma retired from the former Dauphin Deposit Bank & Trust Company, and had worked for the former Hummelstown National Bank. She was a 1944 graduate of Hershey High School. Erma was a member of the Colonial Park United Church of Christ and its Friendship Club and Edna Hoke Sunday School Class. She was past worthy matron and member of the Hershey Chapter No. 509 Order of the Eastern Star; and a member of the WillardWaterman Court No. 54 Order of the Amaranth. Erma enjoyed crocheting, knitting, doing cross stitching, and a number of arts and crafts. She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Ralph Miller Hocker, on January 4, 1999. Erma is survived by one daughter, Shirley S. Dennis (Melvin) of Harrisburg; three sons, Robert J. Shellenhamer (Nancy) of Hummelstown, Harold T. Shellenhamer (Agata) of Harrisburg, and James P. Shellenhamer of Palmyra; and one brother, Wayne E. Rearick (Doris) of Lincoln, Neb.; eight grandchildren; 14 greatgrandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 28, 2008, at 11:15 a.m. in the chapel of the Lebanon Valley Home, 550 East Main Street, Annville, with the Rev. Dr. Bonita Zobeck, her pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Lower Paxton Township. Friends are invited to the viewing in the chapel Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. Eastern Star services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the chapel. Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be sent to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Central Pennsylvania Chapter, 2040 Linglestown Road, Suite 104, Harrisburg PA 17110.
