Horning, 76, of 775 State Route 419, Myerstown, died of natural causes on Friday, August 1, 2008, in his home. He was called home by his heavenly father, whom he dearly loved and served. Daniel was a godly man of steadfast faith and much wisdom. An avid reader, he read his bible and studied bible history. Born in Brecknock Township, Lancaster County, on Jan. 13, 1932, son of the late David H. and Magdelena Burkholder Horning. He moved to Lebanon County in 1942, and was living on the Horning homestead for 66 years. He was the devoted husband of Mary Z. Martin Horning for 54 years, and the father of one son, Marlin, married to Linda J. Sensenig Horning; and four grandchildren, Dallas Jade Horning, Tanya Marie Horning, Darlin Wayne Horning, and Janae Montana Horning. Daniel was a farmer by trade, and enjoyed growing farm fresh vegetables for market. He also worked for Vintage Sales Stables every Tuesday for 32 years. Daniel enjoyed spending time with his son and family and grandchildren. He also enjoyed flowers and music, traveling, and vacationing in winter months in Sarasota, Florida. He was a kind, loving husband, father, and grandfather, who will be greatly missed by his wife, son, and grandchildren. His ever ready willing hands to help and his godly example have been a blessing. He was a man of great faith in his Savior, Jesus Christ, and his commitment to live a life of integrity. In his early years, he sang in the male choir. He served the Lord joyfully as a Sunday school teacher, youth leader, deacon, and minister through the years. Daniel was active in church work, and had a love and concern for the saving of souls for the kingdom of God. Additional survivors are one brother, John Horning of Ephrata; three sisters, Susanna Weaver of Myerstown, Elizabeth Stauffer and Esther, wife of Joseph Boll, both of Lebanon; two sisters-in-law, Florence Horning of Fontana, Verna Horning of Myerstown. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Joseph, Franklin, Aaron and Paul Horning; and two sisters, Etta Gingrich and Katie Nolt. Special thanks to Dr. Kane, Dr. Ives, Dr. Subarro, Dr. Lambo, Dr. Whitcope, and to all the nurses involved. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Myerstown Mennonite Church, 624 N. College St., Myerstown. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 5 - 8 p.m. and Wednesday 9 - 10 a.m. at the church.. Clauser Funeral Home Inc. is handling the arrangements.
