Born in Martindale on August 20, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Frank M. and Lydia W. (Burkholder) Hurst. She was the wife of John B. Horning. A school teacher, she was a member of South Hinkletown Mennonite Church (Weaverland Conference). Besides her husband, she is survived by seven stepsons, Mark, husband of Lucille Horning of Stevens, David, husband of Evelyn Horning of Newmanstown, Melvin, husband of Louella Horning of Lebanon, Frank, husband of Edna Mae Horning of Lebanon, Leon, husband of Edna Horning of Richland, John Jr., husband of Erma Horning of Ephrata, and Martin, husband of Ella Mae Hoover of Myerstown; a step-sonin-law, Paul Weaver of Ephrata; six stepdaughters, Esther, wife of Franklin Horning of Myerstown, Kathryn, wife of Raymond Nolt of Weedsport, N.Y., Grace Horning of Newmanstown, Anna Huber of New Holland, Elizabeth, wife of Norman Hahn of East Earl, and Alta, wife of Samuel Hahn of Terre Hill; a step-daughter-inlaw, Etta Hoover of New Holland; four brothers, Noah, husband of Mabel Hurst of Ephrata, Paul, husband of Anna Mary Hurst of Ephrata, Frank, husband of Anna Mary Hurst of East Earl, and Ivan, husband of Mary Hurst of Ephrata; three sisters, Lydia, wife of Ivan Hoover of Lititz, Esther, wife of John Martin of Denver, and Alta, wife of Stanley Martin of Ephrata; 79 grandchildren; and 320 great- grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Aaron Hoover; two sisters, Katie Horning and Mary Martin; and her stepmother, Esther Burkholder. A viewing will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, May 4th, at the Farm Crest Chapel at Fairmount Homes Inc., 1100 Farm Crest Drive, Ephrata. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 5, 2008, at 9 a.m. at the Fairview Reception Center, 141 Jackson Road, Lebanon, with further services from the Mountain View Mennonite Church, Lebanon, with Bishop Amos G.
