Hoshower, 85, of Cleona died Saturday, April 5, 2008, in his residence. He was born in Lebanon on March 2, 1923, son of the late Aaron R. and Lutie Reber Hoshower. He was a resident of Cleona most of his life. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mildred S. "Mika" Dabich Hoshower, and daughter Lisa M., wife of Jeffrey Leppo of Sandston, Va. George was known for his lively sense of humor and quick wit, which never left him, and was evident for all up to his death. He was a devoted husband, father, and an avid hunter. George led an admirable life, teaching all those who knew him the value of hard work, integrity, strength in character, and above all, family. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a staff sergeant, and during his tour in the European Theater, he was captured while attempting to save the life of a fellow soldier. He spent many months as a POW, being liberated at war's end. Returning home, he was employed by E.S. Youse/Big A Auto Parts, Lebanon, for 40 years, retiring in 1988. He and Mika enjoyed their retirement by traveling numerous times to Europe and Hawaii. Nothing can fill the void his passing leaves in our hearts, and he will be dearly missed. Funeral service Tuesday at 11 a.m. Rohland Funeral Home Inc., Fifth and Cumberland streets, Lebanon, where a viewing will be held Monday evening 7 to 9 p.m. Interment Grand View Memorial Park.
