  Vara A. Houtz, 81, of the ECC Retirement Village-Albright Campus, Myerstown, 
  Pa., formerly of West Main Avenue and Laurel Drive, Myerstown, died Sunday, 
  June 29, 2008, at the retirement village. She was the wife of the late Russell 
  D. Houtz, who died March 10, 2002. Born in Jackson Township, Pa., on October 
  23, 1926, she was the daughter of the late William and Minnie (Spitler) 
  Hunsicker. She had been employed at Sterling Drug, Myerstown, for 23 years, 
  retiring in 1988. She was a member of Myerstown UCC, Myerstown, Pa., and 
  enjoyed playing bingo and bowling at the Goodwill Fire Co., Myerstown. She also 
  enjoyed playing cards in numerous card clubs. She is survived by sons Ronald, 
  husband of Shirley Houtz, Roger, husband of Bonnie Houtz, and David, husband of 
  Joanne Houtz, all of Myerstown, Pa.; seven grandchildren; seven great-
  grandchildren; sisters Grace Schaeffer, Helen Rabold, and Kathryn Blouch, all 
  of Myerstown, Pa., and Nancy, wife of Jon Swanger of Bethel, Pa.; and a 
  brother, Mark, husband of Amelia Hunsicker of Myerstown, Pa.; several nieces 
  and nephews; and was preceded in death by brothers Wayne and Herman Hunsicker. 
  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at 11 a.m. from Grose 
  Funeral Home, 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown, Pa. Viewing Wednesday at 10 
  a.m. Interment at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Myerstown, Pa.
