James, 84, of 3299 Oak Street, Lebanon, died on Tuesday, June 10, after a long and courageous bout with cancer. She was married to Robert F. James, with whom she celebrated 11 years of marriage on April 12th. Beverly was born in Little Falls, N.Y., to Helen Burns Clarke and Charles M. Clarke. She leaves a son, Gregory Santry and wife Anne of Little Falls; and a daughter, Mary Ellen Hinkle and husband Gregory of Bellevue, Washington; additionally a sister, Keaty Bornhurst and husband Robert of Syracuse, N.Y.; as well as five nieces; all sisters, Kathy Bornhurst, Annie Bornhurst, Beth Premlinger of the Los Angeles area, Gretchen Bornhurst, Middletown, N.Y., and Donna Pierce, Syracuse; also a granddaughter, Karli Baroh of Bellevue; and two step- daughters, Barbara Boltz of Cornwall and Beverly Burkhart of Manheim RD. Beverly was educated in Little Falls schools, and was active in the drama and business departments. She continued her education at Keuka College before moving to New York City to study drama. She worked part time as a secretary. At the beginning of World War II, she moved back to the Little Falls area and worked in the war effort. On December 28, 1949, she married Joseph A. Santry, a local attorney and war veteran. As their two children grew older, she worked as her husband's secretary. She served her community in many ways: vice president of the Board of Trustees of the Little Falls Hospital, the Historical Society, Meals-on-Wheels, the local community college, Little Theatre Club, and Cub Scouts. She was an active member of the Holy Name Family Catholic Church, where she was a member of the church council and Rosary Society. After her husband died in 1991, she remained active in the Little Falls community. On April 12, 1997, she married Robert James, her husband's classmate in college, and joined the Lebanon community. She was a member of St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church, the Woman's Club, and the Lebanon Country Club. Her chief hobby was decorating, and often wished she had become an interior decorator. Funeral services will be held in Little Falls at a later date. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Good Samaritan Hospital, St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Annville, or an organization of your choice.
