  Easton, Md.: Mary E. Kaufman of Easton died on Friday, October 10, 2008, at 
  Genesis Healthcare - The Pines, Easton. She was 82. Born in Pennsylvania on 
  August 14, 1926, she was the daughter of the late John E. and Myrtle Wolfe 
  Shaak. After graduating from nursing school with an R.N. degree, she worked for 
  Memorial Hospital at Easton, and the Talbot County Health Department, until 
  retiring in the late 1980s. Her husband, Joseph Grayson Kaufman Jr., whom she 
  married August 25, 1958, died November 30, 1994. She was a member of the 
  Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, a volunteer for the Talbot County Historical 
  Society and the Chesapeake Center, where she served on the Board of Directors, 
  and was very active in various capacities in the community. Mrs. Kaufman is 
  survived by two daughters, Jill Mercer Kaufman of Easton, Md., and Leigh A. 
  Kaufman of Gaithersburg, Md.; one sister, Jean Noll of Ohio; two brothers, 
  Richard Shaak and Frederick Shaak, both of Myerstown, Pa.; and numerous nieces 
  and nephews. Friends may call on Wednesday, October 15, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. 
  at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., Easton, Md. Interment 
  services will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the Talbot Humane 
  Society, PO Box 1143, Easton, MD 21601.
