Kerr, 78, of Wellsville, PA, passed away on Friday, September 5, 2008, in Bethany Village, Mechanicsburg, PA. Born on July 8, 1930 in Campbelltown, PA, he was the son of the late Roy and Anna (Price) Kerr. He was a 1948 graduate of Hershey Sr. High School, a 1958 graduate of Millersville State College, with a B.S. of Education in Guidance, and a 1961 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a Masters of Education in Guidance. He went on to attend both Temple University and Shippensburg University. He was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was retired from CumberlandPerry Technical School, where he was an Assistant Administrator and Director of Pupil Services for 9 years. He also worked as a Director of Guidance for Lower Moreland High School, Central Chester Co. Technical School and Upper Bucks Technical School. He served as the Director of Training and Program Development for the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau for 10 years. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Camp Hill, and also served several terms on the church council and also served as the council president. He enjoyed working in his garden and had a great love of farming. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Shirley A. (Light) Kerr, Wellsville; two daughters, Susan Kerr, Lemoyne; Jennifer Kerr, York; a son, Jeffrey Kerr, San Antonio, TX; two brothers, Franklin and Samuel Kerr, both of Palmyra; a sister, Georgeanna Barndt, Lebanon; four grandchildren, Daniel Kerr, Wormleysburg; Ashley Kerr, Dillsburg; John Kerr, San Antonio, TX; and Elaine Kerr, Aberline, TX. He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Kerr, and three sisters, Dorothy Berkheimer, Gladys Daub and Adeline Drescher Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 9, 2008, in the Trinity Lutheran Church, 2000 Chestnut St., Camp Hill, with the Rev. Dr. J. Stewart Hardy officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service in the church library. Myers-Harner Funeral Home, 1903 Market St. Camp Hill, is handling funeral arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 2000 Chestnut St., Camp Hill, PA 17011.
