"Tooter" Kuntz, 86, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008, in the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon. He and his wife, Essie Flores Kuntz, resided at Interfaith Manor, 101 S. Railroad St., Palmyra. He was born on January 14, 1922, in Lebanon, to Earl and Pauline Binner Kuntz. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Henrietta Brandt Kuntz in May 1986. He retired from the Lebanon Veterans Medical Center, working for 16+ years as a LPN. Prior to that, he worked for the Eckert's Machine Shop, and drove handicapped children for Fortna Transportation. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Palmyra. He was an avid musician, who enjoyed playing the trumpet and clarinet. He is a U.S. Army veteran. During his service in the Army, he served as a bugler and participated in the marching band. In later years, he served as director of the Girls Lebanon Drum & Bugle Corps. Surviving in addition to his wife Essie are his children, sons Charles F., husband of Dolores Kuntz of Hershey, Timothy K., husband of Isabelle Kuntz of Las Vegas, Nev.; daughters Earlene A., wife of Carl Blouch of Annville, LaVerne M., wife of Deward Mitchell of Grantville, Faye S., wife of Carl Thierwechter of Palmyra, Jean L., wife of John Roach of Annville; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a grandson, Timothy Gary Fleisch. Relatives and friends are invited for a time of viewing on Sunday, March 16, 2008, from 5-7 p.m. at the Rothermel Funeral Home Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra. His funeral service will be on Monday, March 17, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the hour prior for viewing. The Rev. James Hayes will officiate. Burial will follow in the Covenant (Ebenezer) Cemetery, North Lebanon Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Assembly of God Church, 1384 Park Drive, Palmyra, PA 17078; or to the American Heart Association, PO box 1263, Lebanon, PA 17042.
