Landis, 85, of Hilltop Road, Hummelstown, died Saturday, October 4, 2008, in the Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg. Born June 6, 1923, in Londonderry Township, Dauphin County, she was a daughter of the late David C. Sr. and Anna E. (Tennis) Heisey. Retiring in 1987 as head cook for the Derry Township High School with over 20 years of service, she had previously worked at the Hershey Chocolate Factory and the Old Hershey Hospital. A member of Shope's United Methodist Church, she served as a Sunday school teacher, treasurer, communion steward, custodian, lay member at annual conference, past president of the United Methodist Women, and loved to cook and bake. She was the widow of Elmer H. Landis. Surviving are her daughter, Linda A. Landis, with whom she lived; son Pastor Ronald E., husband of Becky Landis of McAlisterville RR 2; brothers Earl B. Heisey of Anacortes, Washington, and Carl B. Heisey Sr. of Hickory Corners; sister Betty Baum of Elizabethtown; grandchildren Anna, Jacob, and Sara; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2008, at her church, Shope's Church and Waltonville Roads, Hummelstown, with the Rev. D. Wayne Bender officiating. Viewings 7 – 9 p.m. Thursday at Buse Funeral Home, 2 East Main Street, Hummelstown, and 10 – 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in Grand View Memorial Park, Annville. Memorial contributions may be made to Shope's United Methodist Church Building Fund, PO Box 267, Hummelstown, PA 17036.
