Light, of Messiah Village, Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Annville, died Wednesday, June 18, 2008, in her residence. Born in Lebanon on May 18, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Harvey K. and Minnie M. Books Light. She was a 1935 graduate of Grantham Academy, a 1941 graduate of Messiah Junior College, received her elementary education degree in 1943 from Elizabethtown College, and her master's degree in special education from Penn State University in 1956. She was a teacher for 38 years, beginning in a oneroom schoolhouse in Fontana, and then in the Lawn Elementary School. After receiving her master's degree, she taught special education in various Lebanon County schools, finally retiring from the Northern Lebanon School District. Faithe was a member of the Messiah Village Brethren in Christ Church, Mechanicsburg, and the Fairland Brethren in Christ Church, Cleona, where she served many years as a Sunday school and bible school teacher, and was involved with the Youth Crusaders. It was her vision to start the Pioneer Girls, which then developed into the Pioneer Club Program for girls and boys. For years she was a member and chairperson of the Missions Prayer Fellowship, was active in the Lebanon County Child Evangelism Fellowship, the Womans Christian Temperance Union, and was also a founder and charter member of the Kenbrook Bible Camp. As a very active volunteer, she was very involved in helping those in need in the community, her family, and encouraging young folks in many ways. She loved people, and spread the gospel message to those with whom she came in contact. She and her sister Naomi served many dinners in their home for family, church members, friends, missionaries, Lebanon County Workshop employees, and those in need. She also enjoyed traveling, quilting, bowling, exercising classes, swimming, and gardening. Faithe was a special aunt, who spent summers vacationing with her nieces and nephews on various day and overnight trips to places of historic or religious interest. Surviving are sisters Grace L. Ensminger of Lebanon, Elizabeth B. Stoessel of Mechanicsburg, and Miriam A., wife of Frantz Dengler of Schaefferstown; and numerous nieces and nephews; and grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Harvey K. Light Jr.; and sisters Myrle A. Pyke and Naomi R. Light. A viewing will be held on Monday, June 23, 2008, from 10-11 a.m. at the Messiah Village Chapel, 100 Mt. Allen Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. Funeral services will then be held on Monday at 3 p.m. from Fairland Brethren in Christ Church, 529 West Penn Ave., Cleona, PA 17042, with a viewing from 2-3 p.m. prior to the services. Interment will be held in Fairland Brethren in Christ Cemetery, Cleona. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to her church or Messiah Village in her memory.
