Lux, 90, formerly of Annville died Monday, September 22, 2008, in Spang Crest Manor, Lebanon. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth J. "Betty" Lux, to whom he was married to for 65 years. Born in the Avon area, Lebanon County, he was the son of the late Charles and Anna Miller Lux. He was retired from the sucker rod department at Bethlehem Steel Corp., Lebanon, after 46 years of service. Richard attended Lebanon High School, and was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Lebanon. At age 16, he joined the Citizens Fire Company of Avon, and was the youngest to serve as an assistant chief in Lebanon County. After moving to Lebanon, he joined the Rescue Fire Company, and in 1967, when he moved to Annville, he joined the Union Hose Fire Company. In 1962, he served as president of the Lebanon County Fireman's Association, and was also the chaplain of the Union Hose Fire Company and the South East Pennsylvania Fireman's Association. He was featured in a local newspaper article in 2000 entitled "I Ate And Slept Fire." He was also active in a variety of positions with the Lebanon County Boy Scouts of America. Surviving are a son, Ted, and wife Roberta Lux of Brecksville, Ohio; and a grandson, Lt. James Lux, U.S. Air Force Reserve, stationed at Maguire Air Force Base. He was the last of his immediate family. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. from Grace United Church of Christ, 1000 S. Fifth Avenue, Lebanon, PA 17042. Interment will be held in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Monday evening from 68 p.m. at the Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, 618 E. Main St., Annville, and also on Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grace United Church of Christ.
