Miller shabodeho@aol.com December 4, 2008, 6:46 pm Published in the Lebanon Daily News on 11/17/2008 Marquette, George Reynolds "Rinso" George Reynolds "Rinso" Marquette, 84, of 947 Marquette Lane, Lebanon, died Saturday, November 15, 2008, in Spang Crest Manor, Lebanon. He was the husband of Rufina F. Balmer Marquette, to whom he was married 57 years. Born in Shamokin, Pa., on October 3, 1924, he was the son of the late Robert E. and Mary Frye Marquette. Rinso spent three years as a teacher and coach at Myerstown High School, before a career of 38 years as coach, professor, and administrator at Lebanon Valley College. At the valley, he served as dean of men, dean of students, and retired as the vice president emeritus for student affairs. He was a veteran of World War II, serving 34 months with the U.S. Army Air Corps in the European Theatre, and flew 35 missions as a radio operator/gunner. A graduate of Shamokin High School, Rinso received his undergraduate degree from Lebanon Valley College, a master's degree from Columbia University, and his Ed. D. from Temple University. He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Annville, where he served on the worship and music, the extended ministry, and the finance committees. His church involvement also included serving several terms a Church Council president, Adult Church School teacher, the Men's Choir, and as a lay assisting minister. In the community, he served as secretary of the Annville-Cleona Recreation Association from its inception, and two terms as the chairman of the Lebanon County Children and Youth Advisory Committee, a bugler for Lebanon VFW Post 23 Honor Guard, and after serving two terms on the Board of Directors for LUTHERCARE, he continued serving on its financial advisory committee until his death. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Reynolds B. and his wife, Kala M. Marquette of Lynchburg, Va., and Robby L. Marquette of Lebanon; four grandchildren, Jeremy J. Marquette, Jason S. Marquette, Stefanie L. Marquette, and Zachary Marquette; and one greatgrandson, Dillon Marquette. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert H. Marquette. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday November 19, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Mark Lutheran Church, 200 E. Main Street, Annville, with interment at the convenience of the family in Mt. Annville Cemetery. There will be no viewing. The family would like to encourage friends to attend a gathering at LVC Mund College Center, West Dining Hall, following the services at the Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the LVC George Marquette Scholarship Fund, 101 College Avenue, Annville, PA 17003; or the St. Mark Lutheran Church Extended Ministry Fund, 200 E. Main Street, Annville, PA 17003. Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, Annville, is in charge of arrangements.
