Martin, 78, of Myerstown passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Monday, February 11, 2008. He was the husband of Doris E. Brubaker Martin. Born in New Holland, on February 15, 1929, he was the son of the late Elmer H. and Anna Mary Sauder Martin. He was a member of the Little Mountain Mennonite Church. Lester was ordained minister for the Roedersville Mennonite Congregation of Pine Grove in 1964, and bishop for the Hammer Creek District of the Lancaster Mennonite Conference in 1966. He later served as bishop in the Lebanon District of Eastern Pennsylvania Mennonite Church until the time of his death. In addition to his wife he is survived by his sons, James (BettyAnn) Martin of Schuylkill Haven, Jay (Mariann) Martin of Lititz, Dale (Miriam) Martin of Myerstown, Daryl (Judith) Martin of Fredericksburg; daughters Doris (Duane) Martin of New Holland and Marlene (Jesse) Hursh of Morrisville, Vt.; brothers Robert (Mary) Martin of Lebanon and Elmer (Grace) Martin of Leola; sisters Dorothy, wife of the late Simeon Martin of Stevens, Miriam (James) Brubaker of Mt. Joy and Ruth Ann (Jay ) Zimmerman; 35 grandchildren; and 12 greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Grace W. Gehman Martin; a daughter Janet, wife of Larry Weaver of Womelsdorf; and a sister, Susan Hershey. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 15, 2008, at 10 a.m. at the Little Mountain Mennonite Church, Fredericksburg. Viewing will be held on Thursday from 1-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the church. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Published in the Lebanon Daily News on 2/12/2008.
