Martin, 55, of Ephrata entered into rest at his residence on Tuesday, July 1, 2008, from complications of ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). Born in Lebanon County, he was a son of Lizzie (Mellinger) Martin of Myerstown, and the late Paul S. Martin. He was the husband of Andrea (Sechrist) Martin, having celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary this past October 1st. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Ephrata. He served on various church committees, and also assisted with the Ephrata Marching Band for four years while his daughters were in high school. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and landscaping, and also enjoyed listening to bluegrass, gospel, country and classical music. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam Era. He most recently worked as a cabinet maker for Quality Custom Cabinetry in New Holland, and previously worked for the Richard Sensenig and Leon Martin roofing companies. In addition to his wife and mother, Raymond is survived by two daughters, Amanda K., wife of Troy Engle of Whitehouse, Tenn., and Rebecca Sue Martin of Lititz; his faithful basset hound companion, Lucy; three brothers, Jerry M., husband of Naomi (Leister) Martin of Akron, Clarence M., husband of Arlene (Redcay) Martin of Leola, and Paul M. Jr., husband of Vernetta Martin of Richland; a sister, Evelyn, wife of John Ritchie of Bethel; and two grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann and Troy Martin Engle. Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Leroy Martin, and sister Emma Hess. A viewing will be held at the Salem Lutheran Church, 1331 W. Main Street, Ephrata, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2008, with funeral services being held at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Robert M. Bistline will be officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Red Rose Veteran's Honor Guard. Interment will follow in the Lincoln Cemetery. Arrangements by Stradling Funeral Homes, Akron/Ephrata.
