Lucille D. Meyer, 89, of Fredericksburg PA died At St. Anne's Home, Columbia PA. She was married for 49 years to the late Reverend Ammon B. Meyer. Born in Bethel Township, Lebanon County, PA, on June 13, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Edward M. Wenger, Jr. and Annis B. Wenger. Lucille was a graduate of Fredericksburg High School and of Elizabethtown College where she graduated with a MS in teaching. She began teaching in a one-room school in Weavertown, PA but most of her teaching years were in 5th and 6th grade in the Northern Lebanon School District. She was a lifelong active member and leader in the Mount Zion Road Church of the Brethren. She served the church as director of music, founding the first church choir, and taught Sunday School and directed the Vacation Bible School for many years. She was a deacon and, with her husband, began the first church newsletter. During retirement, she and her husband served in Brethren Volunteer Service in the Black Rock, Hatfield and Lebanon congregations of the Church of the Brethren. Lucille had a deep love for music, for birdsong, gardening, and woodland trees, and she was devoted to her family. She is survived by a son, Luke W. Meyer, married to Patricia Moore, of Middletown PA and a daughter, Nancy L. Bieber, married to Larien G. Bieber, of Lancaster PA. She has three granddaughters, Diana Bieber Locke, married to Thomas Locke, of Ridgewood NJ, Alisa Perry Bieber, married to Samuel Perry, of Seattle WA, and Kristy Meyer of Middletown PA, and four greatgranddaughters. She is also survived by a sister, Mary Lineweaver, married to Warren Lineweaver. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday May 20, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mt. Zion Rd. Church of the Brethren, 2087 Mt. Zion Rd. Lebanon, PA 17046, and a time of fellowship with the family will follow the service. Interment will be in the Wolf Union Meeting House Cemetery, Fredericksburg at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her church.
