Olinger, 82, of Hummelstown was called to his eternal home, November 21, 2008, in the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. Born in Woodstock, VA on August 23, 1926, he was the son of the late Claude and Bessie Funk Olinger. Carroll was a member of the U.S. Navy and served during World War II. He also worked as a driver in the motor pool of Olmsted Airforce Base. Carroll also drove for Eastern Express and Wilson Trucking before retiring from the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. He attended the Susquehanna Valley Evangelical Free Church, was a member of the Hummelstown VFW, Hummelstown American Legion, and the Middletown Anglers and Hunters. Carroll was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He also greatly enjoyed hunting, gardening, watching sports on tv, and reading. Carroll was preceded in death by four brothers and sisters, Madlyn Weidman, Hazel Kuzma, Frank and Paul Olinger. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty L. Cover Olinger whom he married on August 28, 1948; one son, Edward L. Olinger husband of Cheryl Micka of Hummelstown; one daughter, Randa L. Perruso wife of Thomas A. of Easton; two sisters, Dorothy Bjoring, and Randy Olinger Mack; three grandchildren, Katie L. Olinger, Kelsey L. Perruso companion of Michael Kish, and Kelly L. Matincheck wife of Zachary; and two greatgrandchildren, Tommy and Mason. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 25, 2008, at 7:00 PM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Joseph F. Yunik, officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home Tuesday from 6:00 PM until time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Fellowship Church, 4901 Locust Lane, Harrisburg, PA 17109.
