Miller SHABODEHO@aol.com April 24, 2008, 10:58 pm Published in the Lebanon Daily News on 3/23/2008 Paine, Robert W. Robert W. Paine SOUTH ANNVILLE Robert W. Paine, 77, of South Annville Twp. passed away around 4:10 PM Thursday March 20, 2008 following several weeks in the Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his mother Mae Hershey Paine, his father Ralph Paine, and sisters Dorothy Paine Wenger and Mary Paine. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Phyllis Murr Paine and sons Richard Arnold-Paine and wife Kristen M. Arnold-Paine of Lebanon, Jeffrey Paine of Lebanon, and a daughter Karen Paine English wife of Hugh English of Roanoke, VA. Grandchildren Ethan, Owen, and Peyton Arnold-Paine, Alexandria and Alisha Paine, and great granddaughter Andrea Paine. Also surviving are two brothers John Paine of Alabama and Ralph Paine, Jr. of Manheim and two sisters Vivian Hartman of Palmyra and Diane Troup of Pittsburgh. Bob was stationed at Lake Hurst, NJ Naval Air Station during the Korean War from 19511954 and was luckily never deployed to Korea. He was a graduate of Cornwall High School and worked in the Cornwall Ore Mines until the 1972 flood. He was the owner and operator of the White Birch Farm and Greenhouse for 51 years and was a member of the USWA Union. He was loved by his family and was the best father and husband anyone could have. Bob was a hard working man who raised a good family and was involved with the Lebanon County 4-H Club and started the 4-H Chicken Bar-B-Q. He was also a member of the Pennsylvania Yorkshire Association and the Pennsylvania Yorkshire Club and USWA. His family wants to thank the many church members and other friends who visited him frequently at the hospital these past weeks and at home for years. We are glad that he received good care at the Veterans Hospital and was kept as comfortable as possible during the end of his life. His family is very thankful that Robert had 75 good years of life on earth. His passing is sad but not as tragic as it could have been if he died at a younger age as many people have. He always wanted to work on the farm even if he had to push his rolling walker and carry his oxygen tank with him. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 AM from the Church of the Good Shepard, 1500 Quentin Road, Lebanon. Interment with Military Honors will be in Gingrich Mennonite Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM at the Kreamer Funeral Home, 618 E. Main Street, Annville and also prior to the service at the Church.
