  John M. Peiffer, 85, 942 Greiner St., Lebanon, died Wednesday, December 24, 
  2008, in the Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was the husband of Clara M. Hartlieb 
  Peiffer, to whom he was married for 51 years. He was born in Lebanon, son of 
  the late Charles D. and Eva Bentz Peiffer. He was employed by Dick Reber's 
  Service Station for many years, and retired from Reber Auto, Lebanon. He was a 
  U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving as sergeant in the MPs. He was a 
  member of Tabor United Church of Christ, Lebanon, Lebanon VFW Post 23 and 
  Jonestown American Legion. Surviving in addition to his wife are children 
  Cheryl M., wife of Stephen M. O'Kane of West Chester, John C. Peiffer and wife 
  Eleanor of New Port Ritchey, Fla., Lori P., wife of Jerry L. Kahl of Richland; 
  grandchildren Timothy J. Wells, Thayne and Owen Kahl, Jessica and John R. 
  Peiffer; sisters Valeria Harter of Lebanon, Betty, wife of William Hartman of 
  Lebanon; and brother Richard Peiffer and wife Doris of Annville. He was 
  preceded in death by sons Timothy J. and Douglas E. Peiffer, brother Charles 
  Peiffer, and sister Anna Boyer. Funeral service Monday at 1 p.m. Rohland 
  Funeral Home Inc., Fifth and Cumberland streets, Lebanon, where a viewing will 
  be held Monday beginning at 12 p.m. Interment Ebenezer "Greenwood" Cemetery. In 
  lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hospice Unit, Lebanon VA 
  Medical Center, 1700 S. Lincoln Ave., Lebanon 17042.
