Peiffer joined his beloved wife Eleanor in heaven. They were married over 50 years, when she went to heaven on November 4, 2005. Survived by children Karen, wife of William Demmy of Lebanon, Kathleen Miller, and Scott of Lancaster; fur daughter Gracie; and four granddaughters, Shannon Miller, Megan Miller-Stoltzfus, wife of Amos Stoltzfus, Samantha and Teresa Peiffer. Also survived by sister Anna Gould of North Carolina; and brother James S. Peiffer of Quakertown, Pa. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, Robert M. Peiffer Sr. and Stella Mae Yingst; as well as three sisters, Helen, Ethel and June. After attending Lebanon High School, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 thru 1955, where he learned the skill of barbering. He owned and operated his own barbershop for many years on Pershing Avenue in Lebanon. People still remember him as "Bob the Barber." He was a natural salesman, and after selling shoes in addition to barbering, he eventually gave up barbering and became a full-time salesman for Hanover Shoes. During his 22 year tenure with Hanover, he sold over 30,000 pair of shoes. He was sales representative of the year once, manager of the year eight consecutive years, promoted numerous times, and finally became national sales manager. He was inducted into the Hanover Hall of Fame, quicker than any predecessor. He eventually became a promotional consultant and owned his own business, which he eventually sold. Although he enjoyed his "retirement," he temporarily worked part time as an usher at the Giant Center in Hershey until his health declined. He also did promotional type work from his home office. He was an avid sports fan (a true Philadelphia Eagles and Philadelphia Phillies fan). He was a member of and Eucharistic minister at St. Benedict's Church in Lebanon, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 23, member of the American Legion Post 158, and a member of the Senior Center of Lebanon Valley. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
